Kanalani Ohana Farm

Kanalani Ohana Farm is a beautiful bit of agro-jungle in Honaunau on the Kona side of the island of Hawaii. We are at 1600 feet with a gorgeous view of the ocean and Kealakekua Bay. Our steep hillsides and ravinesare covered with coffee trees as old as 80 years, grandfather avocado trees, papaya, guava, taro, coconut, orange, cacao (chocolate), tamarillo (tree tomato), apple, fig, macadamia nut, and flowering trees, as well as white pineapple, ginger, poka (wild passion fruit), mulberries, black raspberries and many perennial flowers.

We have vegetable gardens including the double spiral perrenial vegetable garden, a labyrinth shaped garden, the mango terrace, the Senekedugu garden with annuals in it and a sweet potato and cassava area. We work both with and against our weeds, eating the edible ones, thanking them for the nitrogen-fixing that enriches our soil as well and pulling out and weed whacking them when they overwhelm our main crops. We are working on putting in cover crops as well as interplanting ground covering vegetables amongst the trees. We primarily mail-order our main crop - organic kona coffee! We also participate each Saturday morning (8am-noon) in the only actual West side of the island farmers' market at the Keauhou Shopping Center (in front of Longs' Drugs in the parking lot).

Kolo Kai Organic Farm

Welcome to Kolo Kai Organic Farm LLC (formerly known as Ferris Family Farm-same family operation with a new business name) located on the beautiful sunny island of Kauai.

Kolo Kai Organic Farm specializes in turmeric and three varieties of fresh ginger shipped directly to the consumer.

Besides our web presence we can be found at two local outdoor sunshine markets.

Every Tuesday at 2 pm make your way to the north shore of Kauai. The Waipa Farmer's Market is just outside of Hanalei town on the left. After passing the Hanalei Elementary School you will cross a one lane bridge and the market is just after the bridge on the left.

The second market is on Thursday's at 4:30 pm in Kilauea Town. Drive as though you are going to the well known Kilauea Lighthouse. The market will be on your right about 1/2 a mile before the lighthouse. Look for a knee high sign with an arrow pointing toward the market. The market is in the parking lot of the local community center and gym next to Kilauea Town Market, Kong Lung Store and a wonderful local bakery and pizza place.

Here we sell a variety of different fruits and veggies and of course our gingers and turmeric.

All our produce is certified organic by ICS(International Certification services)

In 1980 we started growing organic fruits and vegetables. Since 1999 our primary product has been fresh ginger. We harvest the ginger on a per order basis so that you receive the product fresh often only a few days out of the ground.

We offer white and yellow ginger, Thai ginger (galangal) and turmeric (olena) on line and of course at the two local sunshine markets.

White ginger is often used in it's baby or young stage for sushi and pickled ginger but is also very tasty in it's mature form with a wonderful flavor preferred by many and generally found in commercial food stores. We can ship you young "baby ginger" September through November on a per order basis. However it is most tender in September and October with it's harder, more mature skin developing more every day through November.

Yellow ginger is smaller than the white but often thought to be more pungent and is the variety most often found in health food stores.

Galangal or Thai ginger is unique unto itself and very pungent. It is commonly used in those wonderful Thai dishes we personally love.

Turmeric is also a root that grows similar to the ginger. IT is used inmany Asian and Indian dishes. It's pungent flavor adds to curry, rice and stir fry's. It's deep yellow/orange color is often used to brighten foods and added to broaden the flavor.

Pualani O Molokai Mana'e Grown Farm

Pualani O Moloka'i, Mana'e Grown Farm, nestled on the lush east end of Moloka'i grows organic tropical vanilla, and value added vanilla products, tropical fruit, nuts, herbs, spices and veggies. From 7 varieties of bananas; sour sap, strawberries, mango, avocados, cacao, lychee to cinnamon and vanilla. Some of the trees are still young and need lots of TLC, some are producing seasonally and harvest time finds me whelding my fruit picker and hauling product to market. I am considering taking interns, it would have to be someone (s) who could tolerate tent camping and tropical flying bugs, short walks to the beach and the soothing sound of the river. Lots of hard work available for the right seekers.

I have been working for the past seven years to grow out vanilla and am developing a demonstration farm for others in my community interested in a viable economic farm product that can grow on a small space.

Mahina Pua Farm

Many are getting on the band wagon and expressing their desire to turn lawns into food. Honolulu residents are participating in Mahina Pua Farm's CSA and food growing opportunities by trading their lawns for a place to grow food for people in their area. In turn, they receive a weekly share of fresh cut produce brought less than 6 miles from their homes. This lessens our reliance on imported food from the main land and reduces our carbon foot print and keeps our environment and oceans beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Vanessa Jansen is the farmer and enjoys connecting with her community as well as answering to the call of the earth to provide nourishment for us all. Find her at the Farmer's markets under a banner with Mahina Pua Farm (Moon Flower Farm).

Ginger Ridge Farms

"Aloha 'Aina" simply means to love and respect the land, make it yours and claim stewardship for it. Our island, our earth, our mother is all the same thing. She needs our love and respect.

"Malama 'Aina" means to care for and nurture the land, so it can give back all that we need to sustain life for ourselves and our children for future generations.

Ginger Ridge Farms was the largest organic ginger and banana producer in the USA for many years. We are now focusing primarily on vegetables and bananas. We pioneered the organic ginger market across the USA and opened many doors in some 'non organic' establishments as well. We supplied all the KTA's and Sure Save supermarkets on the Big Island plus many of the health food stores for many years.

We also supplied Star Market on Oahu as well as whole sellers and health food stores on Maui, Kauai, Canada and across the USA. In addition to the fresh food market we have also ventured in to supplying herbal companies, baby food companies, juice companies and specialty markets and restaurants with-dried, chipped, whole and powdered bananas. Candied ginger, baby sushi ginger, dried, ground and powdered ginger. We helped supply Knudsen with the development of their first ginger ale and their ginger lemon juice and ginger echinacea juice.

Rainbow Ridge Farm

We are an ‘ohana, a Maui family farm committed to creating the highest quality Handmade Tropical Goat Milk Soap which truly embraces the essence and spirit of Hawai‘i.

Some of our handmade soaps contain organic herbs, tropical fruit or nut seed grown from the ‘aina – the rainforest land on and near our farm.

In the aloha spirit of Maui and Hawai‘i, we handcraft our soap from small batches to insure that each precious bar is of the highest quality. The result is a unique Hawaiian gift for you and your loved ones.

Hawaii Natural Meats, Inc.

Featuring KAMUELA PRIDE, certified naturally raised, grass-fed beef and lamb. We also offer raw wool and tanned sheepskins.

Located on the Big Island, we graze our stock on the lush green pastures of Kamuela. With a year-round growing season, our cattle and sheep roam in a free-range setting throughout the year, nourished by tropical grasses, succulent legumes, and a natural mineral supplement, the perfect diet for ungulates. Providing our stock with their optimum natural diet, and a low-stress environment allows us to guarantee a high quality product without the use of sub-therapeutic antibiotics or growth promoting hormonal implants. As an added benefit, beef and lamb raised on grass pasture provides high quantities of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, essential for optimum health. (For additional information on Omega-3 Fatty Acids go to www.eatwild.com ). Not only is it more healthful, grass-fed beef and lamb is also superior in flavor and texture to conventionally raised products.

KAMUELA PRIDE Beef and Lamb is processed in a USDA certified and actively inspected facility. All of our beef is graded using the well known USDA standards and our quality control system insures that only beef grading select to mid-choice will bare our label. On the average our beef is leaner than what you would find in the supermarket, however there is still sufficient marbling to yeild a juicy and tender product when cooked.

We do use deworming products on an as-needed basis as maintaining our stock in optimum health is our first priority. Our dual species (sheep and cattle), rotational grazing system has successfully lessened the need for deworming.

We do host interns and offer farm tours occasionally. All of our products are available on a year-round basis via mail-order. Contact us for more information!

Kehena Ranch

Kehena Ranch was started in 1963 in North Kohala on the island of Hawaii. Once specializing in natural grass fed beef for our local market here in the islands our focus has moved towards the breeding of pure bred Red Angus cattle. In the mid 1980's the ranch founder Alicia King began a program of artificial insemination to improve the genetics of her herd. Those goals were enhanced further by the purchase of A1 Catagory breeding stock in Wyoming in 1996 and Embryo Transfer in 2004. Each spring the ranch has comming two year old bulls for sale by private treaty. Please visit our web site for more information about the ranch. Aloha, Toby King, Manager

Squash and Awe Guerilla Farm

Squash and Awe is a boutique heirloom squash farm in Kamuela on Hawaii island. It began as a garden intended to save a rare, flavorful kabocha squash. With the vines quickly taking over, it seemed that I had a hand for growing pumpkins. After a bit of squash promotion, I took a leap of faith and a business was born. Putting in a lot of dedicated shoveling since April of 2013, it has grown into a guerilla farm of over 15 varieties of from around the world that are primarily sold direct to the fine chefs of Hawaii island. I am conducting an intensive study of historic seed varieties that can be grown commercially in our region, without the use of sprays and using a no till soil building practice. A few thousand pounds of fresh heirloom squash were created in the first season.

In October, a soil building and educational outreach initiative was launched. Every time a restaurant or business donates materials to help build my soil, I donate a class to help build our community. This farm model is unconventional, but it is growing in momentum, building bridges within communities. Involved in the arts, activism, education, and all things "outside the box," Squash and Awe is a project that I hope will encourage others to "stop talking, start doing."

Mauna Kea Tea

We are a certified organic green tea farm on the slope of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our tea cultivation is based on Masanobu Fukuoka's Natural Farming, aiming at minimalist simplicity and cultivating the purity of zen. Taka, farmer co-owner, is a certified Japanese Tea instructor. Kimberly, business manager co-owner, is trained with the Specialty Tea Institute of America and is also a full time mother of two.

Farming at Mauna Kea Tea

We believe the natural farm to be an ultimately self-sustaining ecosystem. Using no fertilizers and no pesticides neither manure based, nor conventional, we learn from soil in its pure form and use only natural means (weeds, cover crops, and mulch) to increase fertility. That's it.

Tea Processing

We make premium hand made teas to bring out pure and clean taste, characteristics of natural farming tea.

Barking Deer Farm

We are small family owned & operated farm located on the island of Molokai that practices organic & sustainable agricultural techniques. All of our vegetables at Barking Deer Farm are grown by with what we like to call "beyond organics" or through the use of "biological farming." These sustainable farming practices emphasize building & feeding the soil not just the plants. We do not rely on bagged organic fertilizer, but rather utilize time-old techniques such as cover cropping, crop rotation, & composting - all methods that encourage microbial life in the soil. This produces a healthy living soil which in return produces nutrient dense vegetables. Our Motto: Healthy soil= Healthy Plants= Healthy People

All of our artisan products are made with the freshest ingredient possible from local & organic sources-many from our very own farm! Each product is handcrafted in small batches to ensure the greatest quality. All products are packaged & beautifully decorated to provide that unique gift from Hawaii.

Mo Bettah Lime Farm

More than 20 years ago, our friends Sam and Nancy purchased a piece of what was once the Molokai Ranch and began clearing the Kiawe forest on the property. Soon they planted the first of many seeds in the red soil of the ranch. In the true Hawaiian spirit of Malama 'Aina they nurtured their seeds, planted windbreaks to protect both the tender new growth and the juvenile citrus groves, and crafted a home which respected the site. The joy and love with which Sam and Nancy and generations of Hawaiians of before them worked this land shows through in the flavor of the fruit we harvest today.

Today the work on the farm continues to be mostly by hand. Our production is tiny and scaled to support the needs of the small island community of Molokai. While we focus mostly on limes, we also harvest a modest amount of lychees along with vegetables, nursery starts and other tropical fruits. We continue to farm using organic methods and are committed to clean pure food and leaving this land better than we found it.

Malama 'Aina means take care of the land so that it can take care of you. That's always been true here in Hawaii and it continues to be true today. We're pleased to see these values taking hold on the mainland. Things are just Mo Bettah that way!

Pua'a Kea Hog farm

Pu'aa Kea farm was established in 1963 by John W. Jensen. He moved to Hawai'i from California where he farmed olives, citrus & almonds. Wanting to get away from the crowd, he moved his family to Paauilo where they raised pigs for 20 years. They switched to cattle for 10 years until he died.

Now in the hands of Robin T. Jensen and children Kaleo & Ka'ai; we have been diversifying the farm since grandpa J died, away from grazing animals & towards self-sustaining agriculture, aquaponics & fruit orchards. Grown on the cool slopes of Mauna Kea, BI for the last 8 years, We're sure you'll find our coffee has incredibly rich flavor with chocolaty-smooth finish.

ATHENA of HAWAI'I

Pure, 100% Kona coffee from ATHENA of HAWAII offers a traditional product from an authentic Hawaiian family farm. All of their coffee cherries are handpicked, wet-processed and fermented, slowly sun-dried and stored as parchment to preserve freshness. The 2,500 shade grown coffee trees, most of them 100 years old or older, are free of pesticides, herbicides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The end results are presented in upscale, handmade kapa pouches and elegant wooden boxes.

Owners Joachim and Demetria Oster say that drinking a cup of 100 percent Kona coffee from their Big Island farm goes beyond just sipping a cup of joe. Their coffee products provide an authentic Hawaiian culinary experience as well as a glimpse into Hawaiis culture and history.

'World-renowned, 100% Kona coffee can easily be considered the United States premier food product.' says Joachim. 'As the French celebrate events and happy moments with their champagne, we see more and more Americans realizing that, with 100% Kona coffee, national & local pride never tasted so good.'

Emphasizing the quality of their products, Demetria adds: 'Single-origin, single Kona estate coffee is what our customers demand. From sustainable cultivation and harvest to processing, storing and shipping until it reaches the person who drinks our coffee, every step is under our strict supervision: no middlemen, no delegated responsibilities, no one else to blame if something goes wrong.'

ATHENA of HAWAII was founded in 2004 and is named after a real Hawaiian girl, Joachim and Demetrias daughter, who helps out on the farm on weekends and after her homework is done.

Always inspected and certified by the USDA, this coffee was awarded with the prestigious 'Hawaii Seal of Quality' as the only single estate Kona coffee so far by the Hawaiian government.
